SEPTEMBER 11, 2005, GLACIAL GARDENS, LAKEWOOD, CA  7:30 PM

The Bad Brains are a beginner/novice league team playing in the Pacific Coast Hockey League in Southern California. The team just completed its third season together. For the first time the Bad Brains had a winning season and advanced to the playoffs. The team has now started its fourth season. On this site you can get recaps on the latest games as well as stats and standings and awesome pictures!

HOW THE BAD BRAINS CAME TO BE

In 2003 Chris Gronowski was contacted by PCHL head Danny Garcia to represent a team that had been previously assembled. Chris decided to name this team the Bad Brains after the classic punk rock band from Washington, D.C. Chris was voted captain and Jeremy Menkee, Matt Grenert and Eddie Garcia were named alternate captains. The team is made up of an interesting mix of people. There is a teenager on the team (John Hutchison) as well as four players over 40 (Wil Poon, Oscar Longoria, Sam Salih and Morgan Hagen). There are also two women on the team (Jamie Menkee and Mitchi Shibata). There are players who were born in Japan (Jimmy Yoshida, Hirose Mamru and Yoko Minoru) and Europe (Sam Salih). Several family members also play on the team including a father and son (Oscar and Joey Longoria), brothers (Matt and Brandon Grenert) and a husband and wife (Jeremy and Jamie Menkee). Despite their diversity the Bad Brains have a great time playing together and after each game hang out in the Glacial Garden Arena parking lot to have a few beers and enjoy each others company.
